In accordance with Article 5, paragraph 3, of the ePrivacy Directive and the Guidelines on Cookies and Other Tracking Tools issued by the Italian Data Protection Authority, all cookies that are not strictly necessary are disabled by default: they are installed on the user’s device only after the user has given free, specific, informed, and active consent via the dedicated banner (see Section 6).

Some tools used by Veil Energy—in particular, the marketing automation and lead tracking features provided by HubSpot—may involve, in addition to analytical purposes, the processing of data for profiling and marketing purposes, such as linking website browsing activity to a specific contact in the CRM, assessing their interests, and personalizing the communications they receive (see Section 4.3).

These cookies are handled separately from analytical cookies and purely functional cookies: they are disabled by default and require specific, granular consent from the user, which can be revoked at any time via the preferences management panel.

4. Tools Used and Purposes of Processing

The following is a detailed description of the main tools that involve the installation of cookies or similar technologies on the user’s device.

4.1 Google Analytics 4

Veil Energy uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited (for users in the European Economic Area), to understand how users interact with the site.

Google Analytics may collect information regarding:

  • page views;
  • interactions with the site;
  • traffic sources;
  • technical device and browser data;
  • unique client ID and session status, via the cookies described in the table in Section 5.

The information collected is used exclusively for statistical purposes and to improve the website, primarily in aggregated form. Google Analytics cookies are enabled only upon your express consent via the consent banner.

4.2 Hotjar

Veil Energy uses Hotjar (provided by Hotjar Ltd., a Contentsquare group company) to better understand user behavior on the site and improve the browsing experience.

Specifically, Hotjar is used to generate:

  • heat maps, which show, in aggregate form, the areas of the page with which users interact most (clicks, mouse movements, scrolling);
  • session recordings, which reconstruct, in an anonymized or pseudonymized form, a single user’s navigation path within the site;
  • surveys and feedback forms, where enabled.

By default, Hotjar suppresses the collection of text typed into input fields (keystroke suppression) and automatically masks elements that may contain sensitive data; Veil Energy does not configure Hotjar to collect data belonging to special categories.

Data collected via heatmaps is processed in aggregate form and cannot be traced back to a single identified user. Data collected through session recordings, on the other hand, is associated with a specific device/user (via the Hotjar identifier) for the duration of the session, but is not used by Veil Energy to directly identify the user.

Hotjar is activated only upon the user’s specific consent via the CookieYes banner.

4.3 HubSpot

The Veil Energy website uses services provided by HubSpot (HubSpot Inc./HubSpot Ireland Ltd.) to manage contacts, online forms, the CRM platform, and marketing automation activities.

The HubSpot technologies installed on the user’s device fall into two categories, each with a different consent requirement:

  • functional cookies: support the technical operation of the HubSpot session (e.g., detecting when the browser is restarted, storing previously expressed consent preferences). These cookies do not create a user profile and are considered equivalent to technical cookies;
  • profiling and marketing cookies: these allow us to recognize the user’s interactions with the site over time, link browsing activity to a specific CRM contact when a form is filled out, and support the marketing automation and lead scoring activities described in the Privacy Policy. The detailed list is provided in the table in Section 5.

HubSpot profiling/marketing cookies are disabled by default and are activated only upon the user’s specific consent, which is distinct from the consent provided for purely analytical cookies.

6. Consent Management via CookieYes

Upon first accessing the site, before any non-strictly-necessary cookies are installed, the user sees a consent banner managed via CookieYes, a Consent Management Platform (CMP).

  • The choice made is recorded by CookieYes via a specific technical cookie (see table in Section 5) that documents the date, scope, and content of the consent given, for accountability purposes vis-à-vis the supervisory authority;
  • Consent is valid for a maximum of 6 months, after which the banner is displayed to the user again; the user may modify or revoke their preferences at any time via the dedicated management panel, which is always accessible from the website;
  • in the event of refusal or lack of interaction, non-essential cookies are not installed.

Rejecting non-essential cookies does not prevent you from using the site, but it may limit certain features or prevent the provision of services based on analytics or personalization tools.
