Fanin: example of regulation and predictive maintenance
Feed mill with gas and vegetable oil cogenerators.
The Client
Fanin is one of the most important Italian companies in the animal feed sector. The company, which produces feed using a process that combines thermal action and mechanical pressure, employs machinery and production processes that guarantee high standards of production efficiency and compliance with regulations and system requirements.
Problem & Solution
Real-time regulation of CHPs and boilers is needed to meet the demand for electricity and heat with the best economic efficiency.
e·boost has been integrated to manage optimal operating power and make real-time grid decisions such as the use or sale of energy. In addition, the self-consumption algorithm detects process anomalies and human errors by reporting them promptly.
Example:
After a start-up, the operator forgot to switch on the CHP water heat pump. The cooling fans ran at full power, and the boiler started to supply the necessary heat to the plant: in this condition, the plant has a net loss of approximately €1,000/day. e·boost reported the anomaly immediately, allowing the problem to be solved in two days; without such timely intervention, the anomaly would have been detected during the next maintenance, causing a net loss of €15,000.
