RENEWABLE ENERGY COMMUNITIES
Renewable Energy Communities are an innovative solution for efficient energy management and a more sustainable energy transition. It is a group of people, businesses or public bodies that decide to work together to produce, consume and manage energy in a sustainable way.
Members of a REC contribute to the production of renewable energy by installing solar photovoltaic systems, wind turbines or other production systems. The energy produced is then fed into the local electricity grid to power homes and businesses in the community.
Benefits of REC
- Cost savings: REC members can benefit from energy produced at a lower cost than the traditional market. In addition, RECs often qualify for SME energy efficiency grants, further reducing costs.
- Sustainability: in a REC, people come together to become producers and consumers of clean energy for domestic or productive use. By promoting green energy solutions, they reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
- Social growth: the creation of a REC can lead to the emergence of new economic and employment activities related to the production and management of renewable energy.
However, setting up and managing an energy community requires specific technical and regulatory knowledge. There are several organisations and associations that can provide support and advice. VEIL energy is a proud supporter of this new form of prosumer, acting as a facilitator of this new model of energy production and consumption.
e·boost, our energy efficiency platform, is already helping REC reduce energy waste and put it back into circulation. Find out how we can help your community optimise its energy management and achieve better performance.
