Energy optimisation in adhesive tape production

Rotogal was experiencing high electricity and natural gas consumption, despite having already invested in efficiency measures such as a photovoltaic system and a new, more efficient coating machine.

However, the evaluation of production line energy performance was still approximate, and the company lacked a structured monitoring system capable of identifying real inefficiencies and guiding data-driven operational decisions.

 solution

In 2025, the company adopted E-BOOST, both to comply with regulatory requirements and to access the incentives of the Italian "Transition 5.0" plan . Continuous analysis of consumption, processes, and on-site generation enabled the identification and implementation of targeted improvements:

  • Packaging: automatic shutdown of packaging machines that remained active during weekends.
  • Compressed air: early detection of air leaks and corrective maintenance.
  • Coating line management: intelligent use of the old and new coaters, depending on product type and availability of free solar energy.
  • Power quality: identification of electrical anomalies on a packaging machine, currently under monitoring.

Through continuous monitoring, Rotogal gained detailed visibility of plant performance and new opportunities for optimization.

Comparing Q1 2025 with the data monitored through E-BOOST from April onward, the benefits were immediate and measurable (based on utility bills):
