IMAR, a third-generation metalworking company with over 70 years of heritage, faced a familiar but pressing challenge: escalating energy costs and insufficient visibility into how electricity was consumed across their operations. Despite early efforts to implement sensors and extract data, IMAR struggled with:

  • Fragmented, low-resolution energy data
  • Unidentified inefficiencies, especially during downtime
  • Difficulty linking energy usage to specific machines and processes

With energy prices rising and operational complexity increasing, IMAR needed a smarter, more integrated way to track, interpret, and act on energy consumption insights.

To address these challenges, IMAR partnered with Veil Energy and implemented E-BOOST, Veil’s advanced energy intelligence platform. The solution combined:

  • Hardware Integration: Leveraging IMAR's existing sensors and deploying new ones for comprehensive machine-level monitoring.
  • AI-Enhanced Software: Automated analysis of real-time and historical data, detecting not only consumption patterns but also inefficiencies and anomalies (e.g., machines left in idle overnight).
  • Expert Advisory: Veil Energy’s team provided guidance to interpret results and prioritize actions—without requiring a full-time energy manager on-site.

The system enabled IMAR to:

  • Identify top energy consumers across all assets (compressors, aspirators, lasers, etc.)
  • Benchmark consumption during active vs. inactive hours
  • Optimize production schedules, machine startup/shutdown times, and maintenance planning
  • Align energy metrics with business KPIs like throughput and machine utilization

In less than six months, the project delivered tangible results:

  • 15–50% Reduction in idle-power Consumption: on specific machines, including laser cutters.
  • 6% Overall Efficiency Gain: measured via kWh per operating hour across the entire facility.
