 Who does it apply to?

The current regulatory framework establishes specific obligations for companies based on their annual energy consumption:

Between 2.5 and 7.5 GWh

 EED 2023/1791: New deadlines are approaching

The implementation of the new European Energy Efficiency Directive will progressively extend energy audit obligations and the adoption of energy management systems for energy-intensive companies.

In particular:

  • Consumption > 239 toe/year: obligation to complete an energy audit by October 2026
  • Consumption > 2,030 toe/year: obligation to adopt and certify an Energy Management System compliant with ISO 50001 by October 2027

The practical implementation methods will be formally defined through the national transposition of the directive.
